Today is Social Enterprise Day, and we’re proud to count ourselves among the 131,000 UK businesses using this innovative way of working to benefit people and planet.
Social enterprises are businesses that trade for a social or environmental purpose. Like any other business, we look to make a profit, but it is what we do with that profit that sets us apart: re-investing the majority to further our vital mission.
Our social enterprises works to put outbound technology transfer at the heart of technology businesses. By building sustainable businesses that make more money and reduce their risk, while positively impacting our society and planet. We work with our clients not only to realise new opportunities for their technology but also the societal, environmental and economic impact possible through new applications.
Additionally, we have supported the schools outreach program with Brighton Permaculture Trust, engaging with over 180 young people to inspire and develop a deeper connection to their food and to nature. Our current partnership with the Hyfa Foundation, supports their digital transition programme to reach over a 1,000 participants in the first year of launch.
New research from Social Enterprise UK shows the difference we make, not just in local communities but around the country, often despite complex challenges. Given the crisis in our economy, not to mention our environment and wider society, social enterprise is needed now more than ever – so we’re proud to be part of the movement at such a critical time.
